Giveaway #1:
Mind Games — Nancy Mehl

Genre: Christian Fiction, Romantic Suspense

About: “FBI Behavioral Analyst Kaely Quinn’s methods may be highly unorthodox, but her talent is undeniable. She’s done her best to establish a new life for herself after being demoted and transferred to St. Louis when a reporter revealed she’s the daughter of an infamous serial killer. But when that same reporter claims to have received an anonymous poem predicting a string of murders, ending with Kaely’s, it seems her old life has followed her.

My Thoughts: With this novel, I was expecting a puzzling adventure full of plot twists and easy reading — and I got exactly that. While some of the character interactions occasionally come across as a bit cheesy or unrealistic, I didn’t mind. For me, this was a great example of a well-planned out murder mystery without the gore or heavily-descriptive language.

While I guessed at pieces of the plot, I was never quite certain, and the storyline kept me on my toes until the very end. Fast-moving and with an abundance of suspects, I sped read my way through this book in no time.

If you’re looking for a non-graphic, suspenseful mystery with a Christian message, check this out!

Rating: 4 out of 5.

Giveaway #2:
The String — Caleb Breakey

Genre: Christian fiction, suspense, thriller

About: Get ready for a deadly social experiment as a sociopath known as The Conductor delivers disturbing threats and twisted moral dilemmas to unsuspecting students and staff. His focus is on one man. But will university cop Markus Haas play the game to protect those he loves? Or will he break the string and incite massive chaos–and even death?

My Thoughts: I was intrigued by the premise behind this book. The Conductor is creepy and twisted, unravelling his string of chaos and plucking at just the right threads to keep everyone on edge. Fast-paced and action packed, it kept me in suspense until the very end.

Overall though, I was a little disappointed by this book as I felt the story didn’t live up to its possibilities. I enjoy books that keep me on the edge of my seat but I struggled to invest in the characters.

The book has a strong action-based plot with a fair amount of violence, evoking a twisted and sinister feel. For Christian fiction, this book feels dark and edgy, but without the gore or language found in other books on the market.

While this book wasn’t personally a favourite, I am very curious to hear your thoughts!

Rating: 2.5 out of 5.
